Efficient operation of an unvented gas fireplace can be expected only by the regular maintenance of a fireplace. You must have a certified chimney sweep inspect and clean the chimney, as and when necessary. It's a good idea to learn how to inspect their own and keep the checks at regular intervals. The chimney should be checked at least once a year or after the fires around eighty. A brush fire can be used to keep the fireplace free of creosote buildup.
There are a lot of precautions to be taken during the inspection and cleaning process of a stack. Make sure all accessories without ventilation flue gas narrow safely and completely extinguish the fire before cleaning. Make sure the chimney is cold along its length.

A chimney cap should be used to prevent damage due to water, nesting birds and carbon monoxide entering the house.
