How Much Are Stone Fireplaces?

If you are looking to buy a stone fireplace for your house there are a couple options out there. A stone fireplace can really set a mood and create the perfect feel for an evening. One of the main reasons for this is because stones have been the primary tool to contain fires for thousands and thousands of years and it’s almost like it’s in our DNA to love stones.Stone fireplaces have been used in small cottages and huge castles all around the world. In the southwest and far west outdoor fireplaces are extremely popular in model homes and as such you will find some of the best designs. In the Midwest many of the stone fireplaces you will find are outside. Not all stone- fireplaces are made with real stones some use what’s called cast-stone. Cast-stone is created when you pour pigmented concrete into uniquely designed rubber molds which give it its natural stone resemblance. Some can look pretty convincing as true natural stone. As far as the varied fireplace designs using stone they are about as diverse as fingerprints. I have witnessed incredible 20 to 30 foot high stone fireplaces, custom carved rock fireplaces, some use boulders that have been rounded and smoothed out and other I have seen use actual volcanic rock as a construct. So, when it comes to actual style it depends on what kind of look you are going for but pretty much whatever you want you can get. Now as for price stone fireplaces can cost you anywhere usually from about $500 to above $3000 depending mainly upon size and labor involved unless you do it yourself in which case the labor would be your own; Maybe not the best way to go.
